Profile-Form: measure radii and angles of a profile

With the Profile-Form measurement users measure radii, angles, height steps and normal distances of a user defined profile. The requested profile is defined directly in the optical color image. Statistical evaluations include among others mean and standard deviations. Profiles are measured automatically.

3D-Form: measure radii and angles completely across the entire area

With the optional module form measurement standard geometries with curved surfaceincluding s deviations of the target geometry are measured. The form is measured by the fitting of geometric primitives such as spheres, cones, cylinders etc. Form measurement also includes contour measurement. This is how users measure geometries like angles, distances, circles, incircles, circuits, thread pitches out of every perspective and oblique position. By measuring the contour InfiniteFocus also implements the measurement of roundness.

Profile-Roughness: measure roughness of a profile

The profile based measurement of roughness and waviness of surfaces with a preferential direction or of rotating components is conforming to EN ISO 4287 and 4288.
The optical measurement of profile roughness with the module Profile-Roughness is much faster than conventional technologies. High measurement speed is a basic requirement especially in the in-line quality assurance.

Surface-Roughness: measure roughness area based conforming to EN ISO 25178

With the module surface texture roughness is measured across the entire surface of a component, not only along a single profile. The area based measurement achieves results with more information about surface finishes. The area based roughness measurement with Focus-Variation is conforming to the most recent ISO standard EN ISO 25178 for area based surface characterization. The high measurement point density of multiple mil measure points allows high repeatable accuracy.

Difference: measure wear and deviations from CAD dataset or target geometry

With the difference analysis users automatically determine wear and form deviations of a target or reference geometry. Wear is measured by comparing the surface of e.g. tools before and after usage. The automatic measurement of height, surface and volume differences compared to the original geometry determines the degraded material and thus the wear.

Volume: measure volume

By measuring volume pits and peaks are verified. Numerous applications like e.g. the measurement of blind holes in the electronic industry require a non-contact measurement. The extensive definition of cutting layer or cutting surface makes the module a comprehensive tool. The reference plane is calculated automatically.

2D measurement

Optical color images are measured automatically or semi automatically. Users define certain features such as circles, straight lines, angles, parallel lines, distances, ellipses, rectangles etc. The automatic feature count is one of the most popular functions of this module. Other features like commenting and documenting of measurements via text overlays allow easy data exchange and communication.

Cutting edge measurement

Cutting edge measurement enables high resolution measurement of radii and angles of tools like drills and milling cutters. Radii are measured down to 2µm, angles down to 20°. With this users increase durability of their tools and guarantee best machining results.

Automation of measurement tasks

Recurring measurements are automated easily and quickly. By using a simple language similar to Java Script, measurements are adjusted to individual tasks. A traditional application is the automatic surface analysis of valleys and depths. Cracks, holes, peaks etc. are detected and measured reliably.

Focus-Variation as core technology of measurement modules

All measurement modules for measuring form and roughness are based on the Focus-Variation technique. Users measure also complex forms with steep flanks and geometries with smallest radii and angles in high resolution. Even with composite materials a vertical resolution of up to 10nm is achieved. With each measurement Focus-Variation provides information for estimating measurement uncertainty.

The measurement modules apply for the InfiniteFocus standard measurement system, InfiniteFocus Real3D for optional 360° measurement, InfiniteFocus XLarge , IF-Portable for mobile measurement of large components and platen inspection as well as IF-Sensor and IF-Robot for in-line quality assurance. IF-EdgeMaster for cutting edge measurement has separate, application specific modules for measuring the cutting edge form.

However, if there is a large amount of data to evaluate this can lead to the instrument being unavailable to other users. You can easily improve efficiency and flexibility by using an offline license on another workstation.
